Albert Schweitzer
Albert Schweitzer was one of the most remarkable and controversial figures of his time. As a young man he challenged the theology of the Bible and received acclaim for his skill at the piano and organ. But it was his lengthy stay in Africa, running a hospital, that led to his world-wide reputation, and also to charges of racism and patronization.
