Joanna Jones, the sophisticated hostess of a New York-based television show, "Fabulous Homes," has everything any woman could want: great looks, a passionate lover, and a job that gives her power, fame, and financial rewards while allowing her to explore her own obsession - a fascination with houses, and what it is that turns them into homes and havens for those who live in them.
The only catch is Carter, a brilliant, sexy man who is her companion in work and promises to be her husband ... someday. Joanna, happy with promises, does not think much beyond that.
One night, after a romantic dinner at an intimate, out-of-the-way inn, Carter and Joanna get into a car accident. The reverberations tear Joanna's life apart, revealing Carter's true priority and forcing Joanna to make a decision: see through the legacy her relationship has left her or abandon what will give her life meaning.
