In Pakistan, it is estimated that eight women are raped every twenty-four hours and 70 to 95 percent of women have experienced domestic violence. Few women report the crimes, and fewer still see their attackers brought to justics. Women victims of violence who turn to the criminal justice system confront a discriminatory legal regime venal and abusive police, untrained medicolegal doctors, incompetent prosecutors, and skeptical judges.
