Bored with his job as CEO of an insurance company in Eureka, Kansas, and tired of his nagging wife, Otis Halstead hits the road on the eve of his sixtieth birthday, but a terrible accident interrupts his odyssey, leaving him a seeming vegetable trapped by the people he tried to escape.
