Their perfect marriage was on the rocks... — Ironically, Birch and Julia Cheney had been in Paris celebrating a blissful five years together when Birch was called back to New York, only to be blackmailed by his father into promising something that betrayed everything he and his wife believed in. — As if that weren't enough, Birch lost his sight in a mugging.
