Short stack
Life in the eastern Tennessee mountains in the 1800s is as dangerous and unpredictable as it is beautiful and untamed. Young Kelly Ann McDaniels, known to everyone as "Short Stack," has to grow up quickly as she finds herself locked in a battle for survival between the harsh elements of each passing winter, an ongoing bitter war over land between the U.S. government and the Native Americans, and the callous greed of ruthless intruders threatening her mountain home.
