Wolf brother
The hero, Ben James, 14, a lanky Tlingit youth, is stranded in the wilds of British Columbia by airplane problems. Initially, he has the guidance and companionship of his grandfather, who instructs him about woodscraft such as snaring rabbits. But his grandfather soon grows weak and dies.
